Kuala Lumpur, 23rd January 2021 – Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) would like to confirm a positive COVID-19 case involving one of its Ticketing Officers who is now undergoing self-quarantine at home. The employee was last working on shift duty on 16th January 2021 at KLIA Transit Bandar Tasik Selatan Station. She started feeling unwell the following day and had not reported for duty since then. It has been established that she did not have any close contact with any passengers or colleagues since her last working day.
As a precautionary measure, a thorough cleaning and disinfecting work was carried out at Bandar Tasik Selatan Station and KLIA Transit Platform in KL Sentral yesterday, where the employee was last using the train service, in accordance with the Ministry of Health’s guidelines.
We would like to assure our passengers that it is safe to travel on ERL trains. While the train services are not affected, ERL will continue to practise a strict cleaning, sanitising and disinfecting regimen for its trains. All high contact areas including handrails and train door buttons are being sanitised regularly throughout the day, and train seat steam cleaning is being conducted during nightly deep cleaning.
The company has also taken appropriate steps for COVID-19 prevention at its workplace and all stations to ensure maximum protection of its staff and business, including compliance with safe work procedure, safety standards training and risk control measures. We urge all passengers to continue protecting themselves and others by following the health guidelines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus when travelling on public transport i.e. wear a face mask properly, check in using MySejahtera app or a log book upon entering a station, check body temperature, minimise interaction while onboard, and practise good hygiene and social distancing where possible.
