ERL Operations Staff Returned Home after Seconded to the Makkah Metro Operations 2018 Hajj Season

Kuala Lumpur, 7th September 2018 –Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) welcomed back the 33 staff who were sent to Saudi Arabia on 1st July after more than 2 months of providing operational support for the Makkah Metro line. The 33 staffs of ERL and ERL Maintenance Support Sdn Bhd (E-MAS) returned to Malaysia on 7th September and were welcomed by Noormah Mohd Noor, Chief Executive Officer ofERL, ERL and E-MAS staff and their family members in a welcome home session held at Arrival Hall, Level 3, KLIA. The session was filled with laughter and happiness as family members embraced each other. 

This year, ERL was once again given the opportunity to become a part of the support system of a railway system that operates only once a year during the Hajj season, the Makkah Metro. This rail service has considerably provided the pilgrims with a safer and more comfortable pilgrimage.

Puan Noormah expressed her gratitude in a speech she delivered at the event: “I am very happy to welcome each of the staff home after being given such a huge responsibility and they undoubtedly did a very good job. I am also very grateful that each and every one of you came home in safely. This opportunity was an achievement for ERL which is attributed to our good track record, operations expertise and competent staff.”

Manpower Requirements

  • 33 staff members and ERL were seconded to support the Makkah Metro Line operations this year for more than 2 months. The position that they were assigned included: Deputy StationManager, Station Master, Assistant Station Master and Station Control RoomAgent. They departed for Saudi Arabia on 1st July 2018 and returned home on 7th September 2018.
